The spear was more effective at downing a charging wild boar because the blade. They are solid and durable, and a must-have for mounting any pole weapon heads. Mount & Blade is an action role-playing game in which players can explore a vast Medieval-like world. Players can roam freely or accept various quests such as assassinations, fetch quests, and duels. Characters fight with swords, spears, crossbows. Mount & Blade: Windows PC. Depending on the weapon you choose you will have a different arsenal of moves. You don’t have to use only swords; for example, there are also spears in Mount & Blade 2. Shields up If You Want to Protect Yourself. On the defensive end, you can use directional blocking, but the shields still do a better job of protecting you on the battlefield. I bought three African Zulu short spears from a collector and want to mount them in either an X pattern with one going straight up the middle or in a fan shape. I don't have a shield so I'd like the method to securing the spears to the wall to be fairly unobtrusive/discreet. Mount and Blade Wiki is a FANDOM Games Community. It'd be really cool to have a bracing setting like the way you can couch your lance- this'd mostly be for pikes. So you press a button to brace, you can't move, but you can finely control the position of your pike and perhaps press a button to thrust- the idea being that all the time you've got a pike pointed at a person, they're not going to run past it easily. That said, the spear is most definitely a team fighting weapon. If you put a solo swordsman against a solo spearman, the swordsman will win 9 times out of 10.
What I'd really like to see are some good formation controls for AI that are actually effective. A spearwall of phalanx that would give your men some strength against cavalry and a frontal attack and make it so that as an attacker you need to use tactics.I think the main problem is the fact that, in real life, you can be holding up your shield and thrusting with a spear at the same time.
If you could form spearmen into a line or block, forward facing and able to attack with a raised shield, it would mean that a frontal attack against such a formation would be costly and you'd have to try flanking, attacking from two sides or relying on the fact that you could get around their shields. In Brytenwalda, I used a spear as one of my main weapons on a shield wall (but I had a backup sword). I imagine the same would apply in other mods that allow shield wall. Now if you intent to fight alone, using spears is not even historically accurate. Spears were supposed to be used in formation (shield wall, pike wall) and swords were meant to be used 1 to 1 as a personal defense weapon. So, in your situation, if the enemy gets too close, use a sword/axe/mace.
But if you fight on a shield wall (specially on the second row), the enemy will rarely get too close. If you have a shield, then you do not have the control required to control the direction of your thrusts because your other hand is holding the shield. Try it: find a long stick or branch (5-6 feet long) and try to maneuver it one handed and then two handed. It's a lot harder due to torque and inertia.the farther away the fulcrum (your thrusting hand) from the heavy end, the more force is required to change its direction. Your second hand acts as a second fulcrum where you can apply the same force with less inertia.Once he's past the point of the spear, you're fucked.Which is exactly why you should be using two hands. He can't move past it if you're able to quickly move the sharp end.
Fahay, returning to review the PC port, was disappointed at the lack of graphical polish and technical upgrades over its console counterpart. Reviews of the Xbox version were positive overall, with the graphics and storyline coming in for the majority of praise. While the gameplay was seen as solid, its simplicity was frequently criticized.Suzy Wallace of Computer and Video Games felt that the Special Edition managed to reach beyond its roots on the Xbox to become a good-quality RPG for PCs, despite dated graphics and gameplay pacing issues. Luke van Leuveran of called Jade Empire 'an amazing action RPG', praising its story and combat system.

Out of nowhere, my body decided that I had been free from illness for far too long and thus, decided to give me a runny nose. I’m going on two full waste-bins now and I’m digging into my supply of pocket tissues. If the leakage keeps up at this rate I’d be all out before hitting the bed.Unable to meet my friends today or do any revision whatsoever, I’ve decided to do something that isn’t too taxing on the brain and where I’m able to sit back and incline my head in such a manner that watery mucus doesn’t happily free-fall onto the desk every other second. So here I am blogging with my one-month-overdue presentation of TaleWorld’s Mount & Blade: Warband. This is my first foray into the Mount & Blade series, going with Warband on recommendation by friends and various forums.
Fire & Sword didn’t really appeal to me since it introduced firearms but I might give it a go in the future. Besides, there’s a wide assortment of mods for Warband with a multiplayer community still going at each other with lances and what-not.What follows documents the rise of Hades, my first and only character so far.Now these pictures were ready on March 20th.
Hades has since gone on to establish his empire, over-throwing his former King and crushing another faction to control almost half the continent. Like Rome, he expanded too far, too fast and suffered heavy casualties and losses over several fronts.
Relinquishing control of a total of eight villages and castles, Hades rallied his main army at the capital to replenish supplies and strengthen his numbers.Since there wasn’t any new content left until conquering all of Calradia, I decided to stop my campaign there, dooming Hades to an eternal stalemate with his foes. Will I revisit the game and allow the man to fulfill his dream of a united Calradia, strong and at peace?
So that he may return home and do nothing but chase bandits, hold feasts and stand around with his NPC wife talking about inventory and political standing?I most probably will. I’ll have to create a female character too for a second playthrough, not to mention take a look at some of the more popular mods out there.

It’s a wonderfully pleasant game, and while the scale and tactics of the game do not compare to titles from Total War (for example, large-scale confrontations are reduced to multiple skirmishes until either side runs out of able-bodied troops) the strong focus on character progression is enough to set it apart with its own identity. The graphics have been a barrier to some but don’t let that stop you! The controls may seem a little awkward at first–especially once you get a taste of mounted combat, but give it a couple of hours and you’ll be deep into your journey on carving out a name for yourself. As the games have been released for quite some time, they’ll go on sale quite frequently, giving you the perfect opportunity to get either Warband, Fire & Sword or the entire collection. In fact, Steam has it as their weekend deal right now, with the collection going for.Since I’m such a big fan of medieval settings, I’ve been keeping an eye out for new developments from TaleWorlds.Their next title, War of the Roses, is looking to be absolutetly spiffy.
Mount And Blade Spears Useless
Updated graphics while keeping the signature combat controls in a team-based setting seems like a recipe for success. Unfortunately (or not), its a multiplayer game. Think of it as Call of Duty but with bows and swords instead. I’m hoping it’s just a platform for them to experiment before giving us fans a full single-player experience to live out our horse-riding, sword-swinging, castle-raiding fantasies. But hey, maybe that’s what is all about.
